Proverbs 28

Reading scripture always reveals a hunger that festers inside of me. It swells and swells the more I indulge. It clears my mind to think of God’s grace and wisdom revealed to me! He opens his word through his spirit, to me a sinner! Wow!

In Proverbs 28 the writer is clear about the differences between the wicked and the righteous. He displays the differences in understanding and the results seen in behavior.

In verse 13 it states

He who covers his sin will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

Let’s be honest about our faults and admit them to our accountability partners and family. Don’t hide because sin loves the dark so it can grow and become more evil!

Finally I wanted to draw your attention to verse 23:

He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward than he who flatters with the tongue.

Don’t believe that flattery will change a person’s heart because it won’t. Truth is what digs the pit of sin from someone’s heart. Truth is what transforms a dead sinner into a living child of the King!

As Christians we are different and we should be seen by the world as such. Our parenting, work ethic, romances, and priorities should be different than the world.

Join me in evaluating our hearts for sin and flattery. Let’s confess and forsake and pursue truth fervently! God has made us alive and put us on mission to spread the gospel to all people. Let’s be different and walk in truth today.
